Deciding on an FM2/+ ITX board

First is the ASRock FM2A88X-ITX+

Other option being the MSI A88XI V2

both around 100 dollars, similar overall features, but I mainly came here to ask if anyone knows of backwards compatibility test on the V2 MSI board, the V1 is sold out on newegg but I could get it elsewhere I suppose, I mean it doesn't list it as backwards compatible with FM2, but I see no reason why they would remove the feature, especially if the PCI-e slot was changed to a version 2 as well.

I'll be reusing my 5800K CPU, and 7850 GPU as well as the rest of my components into an elite 130 case, probably going to change out the power supply next to an SFX as I keep my old parts to sell once I have a full secondary rig.

I'm also attempting to find any 7870k overclock/high speed RAM tests but with no luck, a system without a GPU would be pretty sweet.

slim pickings. I had the asrock. was nice. died cause the power kept cutting out. the power to the houses

Ya I've been told to be a bit warry of Assrock boards, but that one has decent reviews.

Asrock branched off from Asus to tackle the low-to-mid-range market. They've been making a lot of headway in the last couple of years, though, and have put out some impressive boards. For AMD, I think I would trust ASRock more than MSI.

What OS? I was thinking asrock had more issues with Linux.

Windows, maybe someday I'll take the time to get linux to work.
