I want to switch over to Linux mint, and I have before but the thing that makes me go back is foobar, not games, not adobe programs, foobar. If I use DeaDBeeF does it support my genre tags that I have on foobar from my current music files? Or does it not support multiple genre tags and/or just plain forgets whatever foobar has set the genre as? Thanks in advance.
I might be missing something but, foobar works fine for me in LM17. Now I don't know anything about deadbeef but on 17 foobar works fine.
Last time I had tried (probably a bit over a year ago) Facets didn't work with it all that well, perhaps it's time to give it another go? Did you try to do anything special to get it to work other than wine?
I am using wine, and I haven't had a single issues. No errors, bug or anything of that nature. I exported all my setting from the windows machine, it took everything and no issues, just as if I was on windows. The only things I some time have to refresh the folder to add any new music I may have put on the server.
I'll just share, if I may, the fact that I found Linux players better than any Windows ones, including foobar.
It isn't about better for me, it is about change. I got really used to foobar in the two years I have been using it, it was a huge step up from what I was using, which was just VLC playlists.
Try Banshee, you won't regret it :D Well, 2 years isn't a long time in terms of using certain software...
Tried Banshee, I believe the problem with that was that it didn't like me importing 50 Gigs of music at once. (Probably shouldn't be using FLAC, but I don't really care)
*FLAC Five * :D
I have a bit less, but still lots of music in .flac and I had no problems importing it.
I'll give it a go again. While we are at it, is there anything better than pidgin, IM wise?
There is an alternative, but I can't remember the name and I'm not using IM clients anyway #IRCftw
Yeah, I use Hexchat for IRC. Just use pidgin because it's easier to use Facebookchat that way. Thanks guys.
