Dead Keyboard HP PAvilion dv6

A friend of mine had a Pavilion dv6 and they accidentally poured water on the keyboard. Of course everything kinda went to hell. They handed it off to me to see if I could recover their data. I removed the hard drive and used a sata to USB cable to rescue their stuff with no problems. They then told me that I could do anything I want with the system. So I decided to try and fix the bastard.

A. When I would try to boot the system it would get to the windows loading screen and freeze. So i decided to live boot into a Linux distro

B.When I would try to live boot it would get to the load screen and freeze.

C. I removed the Laptop keyboard and attached an external USB keyboard

D. Live booted into Linux just fine. Installed Linux

E. At this point I figured the laptops keyboard was dead so I ordered a replacement

F. Installed the replacement keyboard and they keyboard still doesn’t work.

G. So I decided to go into the bios and see if there was a way I could possibly uninstall and reinstall the keyboard. The bios opened and it seemed like someone was just holding the right arrow. This happens regardless if the onboard keyboard is connected or not. Video of BIOS

At this point I’m feeling like all hope is lost on this project. Anyone have any ideas about what to do?

just let it dry out for about a week or so.

I should mention that the water incident happened over a year ago. it's been in it's laptop bag for over a year

check the pins on the cable and it connector. it might be damaged from the water

The keyboard is brand new and the pins on the ZIF connector all look great.

have you tried a different hard drive.

I've tried a few different hard drives...but I'm pretty sure that's not the issue. The keyboard doesn't function in the BIOS either...which has nothing to do with the hard drive.

any visible damage on the motherboard

none whatsoever.

have you tried different memory. i know a lot of laptops have ram under the keyboards. maybe a memcheck

ran a memcheck a few times passes every time.

tried differnt ram?

just tested with a different stick still the same. I thought I might try updating/flashing the bios...BUT being that I can't really do anything in the bios given the glitching I'm seeing I feel stuck

well to flash the bios you could just use a Hiren's Boot disk and boot into mini xp and run the flash utility.
