KVM Model:
MKAG-8KT3124
USB Interface (5-gigabit or 10-gigbit):
10
Problem:
DDC on Dell U3225QE or ASUS MB16QHG. MBP 16" M1 Max.
Other Notes:
I didn’t even think about DDC when I purchased this KVM, however I took note that I’d lost it within about 10 minutes of using it. Is there any way around this? I got the HDMI model, I wonder if the DP model would work or…?
Please assist.
Forgot to tag you guys @wendell @Level1_Amber. Thanks.
What is DDC referring to/what symptoms are you experiencing?
DDC - Display Data Channel. A protocol for controlling monitor settings via software, such as Backlight Brightness, Contrast, etc.
If I connect my monitor directly to the computer, I can control it fully via DDC. However, DDC is not available when connected through the KVM.

I’ve learned that the proper term is DDC/CI - Display Data Channel / Command Interface.
I noted an older post inquiring about this and wendel replied asking about whether the poster was looking for an HDMI or DP KVM. The poster never got back to him but this hints that somehow this may be supported.
Ah, for the hdmi kvms we do monitor emulation so the control channel doesn’t pass through. For DP it passes through as-is but some software doesn’t like the monitor “disappears” even though the spec is written such that the OS is supposed to deal with that. Recent windows/macos deal with it better, but some people prefer the full monitor emulation. It can negatively impact freesync/gsync as well.
You might be able to press and hold the learn button next to where the slide switch is. try the following:
press for 1 second – the display will probably blink. then see if it passes through. Then press and hold for about 2 seconds and see if that does anything.
The default mode is learn and hold which is a 4 second press. You can also long press for 20 seconds to go back to full reset. I don’t know that any of the handling modes will really do what you want for the control channel passthrough though.
