I am trying to get a dd-wrt router setup as a client for some devices that don’t have wireless capabilities. So far I have managed to get my primary router and the client to acknowledge each others presence. I have been using my laptop to test it, my hiccup is when i disable wireless on my laptop and try to get a connection through the LAN ports on the client I’m not able to get a connection to the internet. Is there some setting I am missing that might be disabling the LAN ports? Both of the routers are WRT54g’s running dd-wrt.
On the device connecting with a wired link to the 2nd router, configure a static IP configuration, where the Default Gateway is the 1st router.
That did not work, the client is handing out ip addresses on its range, curiously when i run the ping command on the router(ping google.com) it shows a steady connection.
If the 2nd router is a repeater-bridge, it is not supposed to hand out addresses on its own. You're supposed to disable the DHCP daemon on the 2nd router.
