DayZ on Linux?

So I tried to get DayZ working on Linux using playonlinux. Well, everything worked out ok. It installed. But when BatteEye wants to start and I accept the terms it looks like it thinks about it. then doesn't want to work.

If I say no to the terms I can start the game and what not but can't join any servers because they are all BattleEye protected. Also I am able to join a server that is not BattleEye protected but there was only two servers from what I saw and an empty server. Boring.

Anyone try to get DayZ working on Linux?
If so, how do I get BattleEye to run?
Hoping I'm not alone here.

Word is at some point DayZ will run on Linux but I want it now. lol

Just a couple of threads I went through.

Nope. BattleEye, Punkbuster, and pretty much any anti cheating software does not get along with wine.

You have to run the program without Battle Eye, and even then you can only use unofficial servers.

Trust, me. I would love to be able to play dayZ and battlefield bad company 2. But nope. People gotta be dicks and cheat.

Yea I spent last night and this morning trying to see if I can get it to work.
I was hoping just maybe there was a work around.
Hoping Linux port comes out sooner then later but I don't see that happening soon.
People gotta be dicks and cheat. fffffffffffffffffffffff

The official Linux port of ArmA 3 still can't get Battleye to work... We will be seeing console port of Dayz before Linux. In conversation with Brian Hicks when I asked him about Linux support he did not rule it out but he said it was not in the plans. My guess is the only way you are going to get Dayz to run on a Linux desktop is using a VM and hardware passthrough.

Thanks. It will probably be a while before we see a linux port.
I also would like to do a hardware passthrough but I don't have the hardware to do it.
For now I'll just patiently wait and play what I can on linux.

We are in the same boat. I would need to buy a new graphics card for hardware passthrough. I am missing Dayz though, having been part of the project for so long it was one of the very last things that was keeping my Windows partition around.

Here is my interview with Brian
