I have with me an Asus tablet from a friend in need. It was dropped, the screen was cracked but not the LCD screen underneath. So we got a new digitizer to replace the broken one. During the process the video cable from the LCD screen was sliced by accident, so now its pointless to put on a new screen.
I have it connected to my computer running openSUSE, and it is not showing up as a mountable device with
fdisk -l
Does anyone know of what I am doing wrong? Or is it just fucked?
Note: the tablet was never root’ed nor data backups via cloud nor microSD. (Yeah they were really stupid).
when you connect it, can you see anything in the dmesg logs?
Okay so I did some quick google'ing, and the device will show up on windows.
Plugged it into my windows computer and it shows up!
However now we need to get around the password, which was a pattern password. Any ideas?
plug in a mouse with an OTG cable, and guess.
OR, get a multi OTG cable with MHL, and plug it into a tv, and a mouse.
Ill give that a shot, I'll have to purchase those though.
The only other thing I can think of off hand, is replacing the video ribbon. But that's a nightmare and a half, if it's soldered to the board, and relatively easy if it's got a connector like some devices.
It's soldered onto the LCD screen... :/
