Darn it Transistors! Fixing audio receiver

I am trying to find a replacement transistor. I know I can't get an exact match but something very similar will work. It is the KIA 7805 pl and it's going in a Denon 2105 audio receiver. The datasheet I have is http://www.datasheetarchive.com/dlmain/Datasheets-16/DSA-311873.pdf sorry for the annoying capcha, and that's all I know.

I have this article http://www.jaycar.com.au/images_uploaded/transubs.pdf on finding a replacement but I can't really pull out the info to help me with the key things that article asks for. Could any of you help me and maybe even explain to me how you did it? Would be a lot of help thanks.

EDIT: this link http://www.datasheetarchive.com/kia+7805a-datasheet.html shows data sheets for 7805pla, 7805a, 7805ap... ect. Will I be able to use one of those instead? I ask because I can actually find these.

Looks like a pretty standard 7805 to me. Just go to a component distributor and as for a 7805 linear regulator

Yeah I figured out that the 7805 which is easy to find is just the same with the ability of higher heat disapation, which is good considering the first one cooked. Thanks man!
