Today i shall review Darksiders 2 Death lives.
So ive only played this on PC and i shal be adding my own opinion towards this as i have never played a hack/slash like this on PC before.
Story...
So those of you to play darksiders 1 know whats happening (Im not one of them peope)
Humanity has been destroyed, and one of the 4 horsemen has been accused of it.
So in part 2, Death sets out to save his brother War, in an attempt to ressurect humanity, but he doesnt know how.
So the story is you playing as Death, Trying to save humanity, which isnt what death is created to do :S anyways you must find a way to save humanity and in turn save your brother war.
Gameplay..
The game is the same as the 1st game, although it now has RPG elements, such as gear improvements, 2 level trees, nercomancy and harbringer, both trees play a viable part in the game unlike some games where some trees are useless.
Combat is rather nice, you have to dodge, and attack but no blocking or parrying in this game, now on my private play through i play on hard, my walkthrough medium so i dont look like a fool when i die, i suggest to people who are good at these sort of games play hard, it offers a nice challenge, same as Arkham City.
Anyways on Apocolyptic mode (Hard mode) dodging is needed as you wont last very long if you dont even with good gear, also using your wrath abilities is vital as they can cause massive damage, chain combos to create massive damage or heal Death using them at the correct time is a massive advantage.
Apart from that the combat is simple on lower difficulties.
Talking to specific NPCs have a sort of mass effect wheel look, but there normally specific questions they dont actually affect the story.
There is also a hint of Prince of Persia in this game, as shown in my walkthrough you have to run across walls, climb beams, and shimmy across vines on roofs, i like this as it gives good memories of old games that dont include this feature now.
The dungeons have a Zelda feel, pushing massive balls into holes to activate runes to open gates, also exploring to find a key that will open a door, a little bit of backtracking is needed here but nothing to complain about.
Graphics!!!
Ok with a PC game you expect to scale the graphics performance to what you want, ultra to low and everything inbetween, on here you cant, you can set your resolution but nothing more which i find rather odd, although the graphics are not the best, they are far away from the worst, everything is detailed, just hope in a future patch i can run the game with my graphics settings not what is pre-defined for me.
Although playing through the game i have seen a number of enviroments, from lush forrests to abandoned dungeons, and never one texture has poped out, although i did see tearing on my walkthrough part 1, although it didnt copy onto the actual video.
Bugs?
To be honest no, i have encounted what i thought where bugs but they where not, just me not knowing the controls.
What could have been done better?
A few things the game could include a gamepad option, although after been forced to use a mouse and keyboard i actually prefer it to a controller, adding graphics options would also be a great inclusion in a later patch maybe? and better quest objectives would be better as they dont seem to appear on the map :S
apart from that its all good!
Conclusion!!
In the end i really enjoy this game, i cant say it will be one of my ultimate classics such as Grim Fandango, Doom, Skyrim etc but its near close, it runs smoothly using a i5 2500 3,3Ghz, XFX 6870 1GB and 8GB 1600Mhz RAM, even with fraps in background running,
i have yet to finish the game fully but i will enjoy doing so :)
I give this game a 9/10, 10/10 if they add in graphics options!
Laters Guys!! Keep an eye on my channel for gameplay, give me feedback, and do you want commentary?
