Moontower is the album for Dan Swanö solo project, he handled all the
instruments and vocals, and recorded it all alone in his studio.
Yesterday I downloaded this album after I heard many praises about it...I always liked Dan Swanö's music, I think he's one of the best overall metal musician. So yeah, I liked his work with Nightingale and Edge of Sanity so I said what the hell I'll give it a go.
I put on my headphones, go lie in my bed (was approx 1am) and start listening to it. I was freaking stunned! This album is amazing. It managed to give me the feeling that only a select few albums has managed to give me. Every track is different, it's not repetitive one bit. There's no filler either. The instrument playing is great, as expected from Swanö, the production is top notch too. There might be a bit too much synth in it for people who don't like MDM in general, they are handled wonderfully tho, gives a really nice adition to it. This album wouldn't be the same witought em. His vocals are really good too. If you like Mikael Åkerfeldt's (opeth mainly) growls, you'll like these. The clean vocals sounds a bit like the ones from the Scar Symmetry, but they are only present on one song I think.
Overall I give this album a 9/10. Get it.
When I woke up this morning I went on Amazon and ordered the CD right away, then came here write this "mini review". That's how good the album is.
If I'd had to pic a favorit song it would have to go for Uncreation or Encounterparts [Instrumental].
(^ lots of synth in that one)
