Custom pci /pci-e card backplates

Any other users out there had made custom cases/backplate for there cards like network cards, sound cards and GPU aswell?

How did it go? Was there any problems that you had to deal with ? You have any tips for a user who's trying to build his own custom backplate.Uploading...

I had a problem with a backplate once. i bought msi x99 motherboard. First pcie slot was to close to ram slots for a gpu a with a backplate to fit properly.it was supposed to be motherboard for my main rig but eneded up on a test bed. that was the only problem i ever had with a backplate on gpu. I am wat3ercooling my gpus in my gaming pcs. Ive used both, stock and custom pacplates for watercooling.Havent had any issues yet , minus that msi board where the first pcie slot is to close to dimm slots to fit a backplate.as for advice .Its difficult to say anything except that you want it as thin as possible. Also you dont wand it to reduce the cooling the card already has.for example some cards have memory dies at the opposite side of pcb like titan x. You dont want to put a piece of custom acrylic on them and let them boil. If you are planning to use all of your pcie slots you might be in trouble. if you have tightly packed system full of expansion cards you want some minimal gaps betwin hardware pieces if you are not plannigg to use server fans.A lot of hardware (most of server stuff) has a passive heatsink but that doesn mean it doesnt need cooling. It needs a lot hehe most of the time. Heat radiates and if theres no air flo there are hot air pockets. If you plan to have your hardware spaced out you shouldnt have any problems with some fans blowing on it.
