Custom CPU Water Cooling Tips/Help

I plan on doing a custom water cooler for my CPU. Main reasons I'm doing it is because one, I'm currently using a Corsair H60 which I had bought to hopefully OC my 3570k but I learned very quickly that I wasn't going to get that great of OCs because of how hot these CPUs run. Secondly I want to do it because I think it would be a fun project and would be cool to do. So that being said I'm asking you guys for any suggestions for parts or pro tips or you can even share a horror store of some sort. I know how to put it all together and I'm currently working on a parts list so I really just need tips on assemblying or creative ways to hide a pump or reservoir. Also I may add picture or a video of the assembly and the finished product for those who care.

Anyone?

Last time I did water cooling was WAY back in 2001, all I can tell you, it's much EASIER to do today.  Go check out Dangerden, they have amazing kits.  Back when I was doing it, there wasn't even radiators available to purchase, you had to go find a compatible heat core from an older car, I was using a 67 Chevy Corvair block.

Have you put any thought into whether you want to run distilled or deionised water or if you want to  use a premix, or non conductive solution?

Also if you wanted to keep it simple but increase the radiator size there are options like the H100 if it fits in your case setup.

But yes like CaptainPancakes, if you really want to build yourself for the first time i suggest a kit, and watch some videos on a complete assembly of a waterblocked system before you start.

Just get an H100 1/3rd the cost, full warranty coverage, and your chip will probably stop you before the loop.

but the H100 doesn't look as cool

Well thats just a matter of opinion, and for all we know he has a windowless box of a case in which it wouldnt matter, i cant see a case listed.

I think if the op is serious about wanting it for the cooling and not the looks then the performance and simplicity is the priority, looks come second when you have some more experience and a new rig to put it into rather then reworking an existing one.

Yeah performance isn't really what I'm looking for I'm happy with my current performance but I'm kind of becomeing some what of an enthusiast and wanting to try some new stuff and seeing how far I can push my 3570k. I'm going to be putting all of this in a Corsair 650D and for me look is very important. I also am highly considering getting one of these FrozenQ Dual Bay Helix reservoirs which look bad ass so really a pre-built isn't an option at this point especially since I already have one.

Well I'm not 100% sure on all of the pros & cons of using one over the other but from my understanding of what I have read online and heard about I will probably be using a premix. I do actually want to do a mineral oil build at some point but that won't be for awhile. Maybe you can enlighten me a little on the differernce between using distilled, deionized or premixed?

That sounds like fun. lol
