Idle temperatures are around 35-40 degrees (19% fan speed) and at load temperatures go up to 62-68 degrees (55% fan). Now the card is technically a 3 slot card. I guess you can’t have the cake and eat it too
Over the weekend, I will install the heat-sinks for vram etc.
~20C improvement in Thermals is certainly nothing to complain about! I bet the sound profile is in a class of its own, especially at 55% fan speed. Hopefully those MOSFETS keep cool.
Yup. I noticed those VRMS hitting 100C after some benchmarks. After installing some aluminum heatsinks that came with the mono plus, they are in the low 90’s.
I am not sure how the reference cooler performs in the area as I didn’t know about the hardware info tool that I use to check VRM temperatures.
Will do another test today and see how things are working now.
I see. The heatsinks that came with the mono plus don’t cover the entire area. I was planning on sawing off the vrm portion of the reference heartsick as it comes with holes for screws and all.
But if its in 80-90 degrees area, I don’t really see how much more I can improve.
I would actually suggest looking into getting some Ebzotech heat sinks, all copper, they sell them in packs I’ve got a crap ton lying around for random things.
With regard to noise, I can barely hear the gpu over my cheap non-pwm case fans. To test things, I turned them off and its barely audible at 40-50%.
One thing that I really like about the mono plus is it keeps the card really cool at idle. To achieve the same results with the reference cooler, I had to tweak the clocks and change the fan profile.
