Hello I am looking at the Crosshair V Formula-Z at $221 and Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 at $147 (note: prices in CAD).
Is the Formula-Z worth the $74 extra?

depends. the formula-z has better power reg, for better OC, and some other features. I would split the diff and get the sabertooth v2

The sabertooth is a really nice board. i have the 990fx. really nice features and a beautiful bios with mouse control. It has lights to tell you if there are any problems with certain parts of your motherboard. 10 temperature readings from your motherboard. adjustable fan control for all 6 fan headers. Its a really really nice board.
I agree with Sanitylocker on the Sabertooth 990FX motherboard. It really is a sweet AMD platform motherboard. The audio on the Crosshair is a little better than the Sabertooth but you can always put an audio card in that will pretty much blow away any onboard audio. You also get 1 more PCI slot on the Crosshair. The Sabertooth gives a 5 year warranty VS the Crosshair which is 3yr. Personally, I’d go for the Sabertooth board unless you don’t like the colour scheme. :)
You do have a point on the color sceme evo. its incredibly hard to match anything with the colors.
Sabertooth is the best board on the AMD platform in my honest opinion. Plus you can't beat that awesome 5 year warranty. If you are getting any of the 2nd generation FX processors, get the r2.0 boards. It will support it out of box.
My only complaint about the Sabertooth R2.0 is the ugly brown, but at least noctua fans have something to go with now
