Crossfire or not

Hey, last week I just bought a brand new E8400, but I'm still not sure about wich motherboard should I get.

I bought also 2X 2GB Corsair XMS DDR2 800 (cause I found it on a giveaway for U$98 and curiously I could afford that at the moment).

BTW, wich brand and model would you recommend me?!

I'm not really concerned as before about Crossfiring but it might be an option if it doesn't cost much more than a single 16X slot motherboard...but the question is...is it really worthy?

And why? (2X 4870 or 4870X2?!)

I know this question may be similar to George's but in my case I need a DDR2 board; something on a price range about U$ 100~130

Thanks for caring!

PS:. at first I'll be using an HD3850 sapphire 512mb

I don't know a heck of a lot about ati cards, so instead I'll recommend an nvidia one. I know this might not help. Me, personally would not go with a sli or crossfire motherboard, but if I did i would get 2 nvidia 9800 gtx. If I only had 1 pci slot available i would try to get my hands on a 9800 gtx2 or whatever they call them. Thats expensive though.

If I had a crossfire mobo, I would go with 2 4870's.Board wise, go with a gigabyte board if you dont want to do sli or crossfire. If you do want to do sli or crossfire, for sli go with the 680i or 780i from evga or xfx, and for crossfire... i have no idea

Well....as i didn't get a lot of answers about wich motherboard should I pick, I just got an ASUS P5K-SE for U$85, and now i'll be able to assemble my little "rig" (I know MeGotRice disapproves this therminology but saying "rig" makes my pc look better..lol), wich lacks video capabilities with that mid-end HD3850, but still can handle a lot of games.

Anyway thanks, George!

good luck building your comp! im sure it will be great!
