I have crossfire 290x's, ever since I got them set up, I've had nothing but issues. (Games not running at solid 60+ fps, Video Drivers crashing ETC.) I am running Catalyst 15.11.1. I have tried switching the slots the cards were in and that didn't work. I switched from a later version of catalyst to this one, (though it works better and is easier to use, Im still having problems.)
http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Radeon-Software-Crimson-Edition-16.1-Hotfix-Release-Notes.aspx newest hotfix. Ran okay on 8.1. If you still have issues use this to scrub out the old drivers. Follow the prompts

Reminder to reinstall current chipset drivers for your mb.
Crimson I'm fairly sure does not support crossfire. Also I am running Windows 10
Sorry, still no answer for that one.
It's fine.
do you need the last ccc drivers to rollback to ?
try different versions i don't think 15.11.1 was last ccc before crimson.
15.11.1 has been giving me the least amount of problems. 15.9.1 and 15.7 were worse.
thats odd, are you positive your 290x's are ok?
mean = memory, clocks, heat?
try checking if you have broken memory module. try populating each card alone. see if you get full 4GB. If not, it means one or more card is damaged.
that and if the op hasnt done a clean install of the gpu drivers. which maybe a little screwy from all the install and reinstalls.
They're physically fine, the previous owner had no issues with each one physically and neither have I. I have done that and got similar performance of each card in games like Fallout 4 and Tomb Raider.
I am going to do this process.
Uninstall all AMD Software: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
Reinstall Chipset Drivers: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+10+-+64
Install Catalyst 15.9: http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/download-amd-catalyst-15-9-beta-driver,7.html
Enable CrossfireX
remember to monitor temp and clocks, also.
The bottom card idles at 50c and the top card idles at 60c, in load the top card reaches 80c and the bottom reaches 75. when I have crossfire enabled it gives me the option to have 8gb of GDDR5 in games.
physically they may appear fine. Some issues might not appear right away but will appear with CF (like bad memory)
run it over with 'video memory stress test' latest version... and see how it goes.
(together and individually)
create your own fan profiles to keep below 80'C keep it within 70'C.
Too me that is too high. How is your case airflow ? Do need to add more fans to your case? Turn your fan settings on your cards up.
Yup, case airflow issues. Nice build. How many intake fans ?
200mm Intake Running at 2000rpm, I quiet it down. 80 degrees isn't that hot for a 290x, they thermal throttle around 100, and Linus had his running at 98ish. In a 4 way crossfire setup.
that depends on your cooling... they don't run hotter than normal cards. :|
poor cooling = high temps.
my 290x's overclocked to 1200MHz core never reach 70'C (pretty much gets around 67-68'C)
I prefer to keep my fans at lower rpms also, I like silence, so Im investing in some silverstone silencing foam, I have tried putting all of my fans to max, to see if that helps, but the only thing that did was make my computer sound like a jet engine, and no other help.
