Critique my article introducing linux

https://www.theodysseyonline.com/heard-good-word-lord-savior-linux

What do you guys think? Would it be worth adding to the wiki or is this basically already kinda covered? I could copy-paste what I have written already and then expand on it too, considering I was trying to keep my post within the text limits of the publication I write for (and write it in a week).

Not read it all yet looks interesting, feel free to put it up for prosperity.

I would remove Fedora as a recommended Linux distribution to get started with. Fedora (can be, and often is) quite complicated, especially for new Linux users. I would stick with Ubuntu.

Also - explain how to download and install Ubuntu in your article. If you're mentioning it, then give an example of where to find it and how to install* it.

  • Installing any Linux distro can be very complicated for new-ish users, especially on UEFI (newer) computers.

I have a link to a website that gives some more details on the specifics of installation, but I figured that given this is an article to a pretty casual audience that it would make more sense to leave the technical details in a more extensive article (like the one I linked) so as to allow for more focus and detail.

Otherwise I feel that explaining the installation process is in and of itself an article's worth of material.

But maybe you're right. I definitely thought about it, but given the time constraints I decided against trying to explain in detail how to install linux. I was hoping people might be interested enough after reading the article to do a little googling as well.

In regards to distros, I wanted to offer people some choice, and introduce them to the fact there are multiple distros and that each version of linux can be different depending on the use case. That's an important thing to understand when diving into the world of linux, but for the wiki I've removed fedora as an option and just left openSUSE and ubuntu (only because I've never actually played with fedora).

I've added the contents of the article to the wiki though, so feel free to make any revisions to it there: https://tekwiki.beylix.co.uk/index.php/Intro_to_Linux,_what_is_it%3F
