Creative Sound Blaster Z audio quality?

Hi.

I'm looking forward to purchase a Creative Z sound card to replace my current onboard Realtek 898 solution. Can anyone who has experience with this card tell me if there will be a difference compared to onboard audio?

My headphones are AKG Perception K77 and I also have a Logitech Z553 speaker setup.

You probably won't noticed much difference.

Just get an external USB DAC and Amp.

I am also looking at this sound card. My internal solution is broken would it be worth the price?

all sound cards are pretty much the same  ... if four board has an open PCI slot  ... just get a $12 SB Audigy 2 ... If you only have PCIe slots ... something like a SB XFI ... it will be more expensive and not really sound any better  ... I have never heard the Z ... so have no opinion ... but like I said  ... they are all crap

Sound Blaster Z sound is amazing...I went from using my on board sound to this and the amp is really nice...it improved quality, bass and loudness.

I use a Mayflower now, and while I noticed a difference from on board to SB Z, I didn't notice the difference from the SB Z to Mayflower.

That is good to hear ... I have an XFI and it sounds about the same as my old Audigy 2

sounds like SB stepped up their game to stay relevant ... since a lot of the newer boards have increasingly better sound quality.

Biggest difference I noticed going from on board to SB Z was the very much increased very deep bass and overall loudness, I used to crank my sound to sometimes near 80% ...I don't think I've ever gone past 40% on the Z

Ya I agree, since I switched to X99 I haven't used the on board sound anyways

You seem to have a lot of nice stuff  ...  unlike my dumpster dive trash    lol

Okay thanks
