Can anyone tell me how to create a bootable usb to install Linux mint? I already looked at unetbootin, the version of mint available seems to be obsolete.
use unetbootin and select "ubuntu" as the usb your makeing (mint is ubuntu based)
Anless your useing linux mint "debian" (debian based) then select debian as the usb you what to make
Some people like to use Pen Drive Linux which can be found here: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/
Personally, I prefer LiLi (Linux Live Creator) just make sure you select the proper version of Linux Mint
You can find LiLi here: http://www.linuxliveusb.com/
Isn't Ubuntu based on Debian?
And if Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu then... isn't Linux Mint based on Debian?
L -> U, U->D |- L->D
If I'm not mistaken... doesn't that only create bootable windows disk images?
Debian is the grandfather of 90% of all linux operating sistems.
Linx mint is ubuntu then rehashed and fixed of most of its bugs (eg linux mint 11 is based of ubuntu 11 and so on...there is a vershon that is truer to debian called Linux Mint Debian)
no just no... ive used it to create a bootable linux distro on many occasions. Thats what it was originally designed for.
it cant make windows bootable off usb
I used pen drive, thanks for all the suggestions
I've use LiLi before, and find it to be too restrictive. I personallly prefer unetbootin, as it works with all linux, including backtack.
I use LILI usb creator and just follow directions, works beautifully.
Well then I must be mistaken. I could've sworn I'd used that to make windows images before. Must be thinking of a different program. Sorry!
I did not know they had Linux Mint Debian. Nice, good to know.
Danielwewo, I just realised what your problem from your other thread is with regards to UEFI not working and all the hardware recognition problems you have: you've made a live USB with a program that doesn't support UEFI. It just didn't pop up in my mind because I took for granted that you would have used dd to make the live USB.
For all those wanting to use a live USB with UEFI, there is only one way to make a live USB, and that is the good old way of dd-ing it onto the USB.
