So, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are upon us. For the past month or so I've been weighing my options when it comes to system upgrades.
My current setup is a Phenom X6 1090T @4.0Ghz, Crossfire 6950's, 8Gb Corsair Vengeance, and an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R1.
I am seriously considering an FX9370 and doing some overclocking, I would hope that would relieve the bottleneck I'm getting right now in game like BF4. For a frame of reference I'm getting around 95% usage on all six cores of my Phenom while only seeing 40% -ish on each 6950.
I've also considered going with Intel as I like the LGA2011 platform and could see some performance gains there. I do a lot of work in After Effects and Premiere. Some Photoshop as well but that's not exactly taxing.
In a nutshell, I need to minimize the bottlenecking I'm seeing with my current setup as well as get some performance improvements when working in After Effects primarily.
I'm curious to hear what any of your suggestions are. Thanks.
FX8350 for gaming and non-professional use, Socket 2011 4930K for professional work where time is money, and where it will yield productivity improvements. But common most of this stuff should be open CL.
The only reason I'm considering the 9370 over the 8350 right now is because I can get one for the same price off of Newegg. I wouldn't spend an extra $60+ on a "cherry picked" CPU. :D
The MoBo change is what's most frustrating. I could easily do it but that money could be well spent elsewhere.
I've considered trying to find a 3930k on eBay, every once in awhile one will show up for a decent price. LGA1150 isn't really worth it to me though. :)
