I have just installed the Zeortherm Nirvana and used the thermal paste and im getting 90+ degrees is this normal for a new cpu cooler being installed??
No, its not normal.
Its either a foreign ghetto cooler that dont even cool, or you have done it wrong.
I doubt its because it may suck. Try "reinstalling" it. As for thermalpaste, OCZ Freeze is the best one imo.
so what should be the normal temps for a new cpu cooler?
Are you talking Celcius or Far. Normal Temps for that cooler should be around 20-30 Degrees Celcuis at Idle
Im talking in degrees celcuis and its the first time i have installed a third party heatsink
Depends what cpu it is... What cpu is it?
If you meant Fahrenheit it might not have been that bad.. but if you meant Celcius, then it is kind of hot.
Normal temps would be on 45nm cpu 20-30celcius idle..
On a 65nm Its 25-40 ?.. really depends on room temperature..
By the way: Install speedfan, and crank up the fan speed.. check if that helps.
I have a E7200 45nm at 2.70ghz and with the stock intel cooler i got about 50 degrees celcius, ill leave it off the rest of today and reinstall it tomorrow
Yeah 90F would be about 30C, but 90C is pretty close to your CPU exploding out of the socket. Make sure it's mounted correctly, and it is making flush contact with the CPU.
HOLY SHIT looooool. I have an E7200, and used the Intel Stock cooler, overclocked to 3.2GHZ and got 45-48. I think you're mounting your coolers wrong, or you have a busted chip.
ok thnaks guys ill reinstall it tomorrow and with the thermal paste, how should i apply it, I tried to spred it across the the cpu but most of it ended up on the sandwich bag so i put a line of the paste through the middle of the cores
lol there's no way in hell the zerotherm nirvana lets ANY CPU to 90ºC, unless it's over 90ºC in your room, which i HIGHLY DOUBT is the situation here. you're definitely doing something wrong because i just used the zerotherm's thermal grease that it came with and you've already seen the awesomely low temps that i've gotten.
my e8400 on stock fan is 90 far so somthin is wrong with your cooler
im thinking if i should just get a cheap cooler to make it cooler and not so damn noisy ><
omg! E8400 on 90?!?!!?
I have E8400 on 3.8 GHZ and its 23C!
90 °C HOLY FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats 194 °F
you most likeley did something wrong im on an e4300 65nm with stock intel heatsink at 30 °C
he means 90 farenhiet i think
doubt it almost all programs that measure cpu temps use Celsius not F
and i think he dosent live in the us so he definitely dosent use F
Hey guys I decided to reinstall teh heatsink and its fine now im getting about 30-40 degrees celcius
.....
"I tried to spred it across the the cpu but most of it ended up on the sandwich bag so i put a line of the paste through the middle of the cores "
I have no fucking idea what you mean by sandwich bag, but yeah, slathering a line down the middle will NOT cool down your CPU. AKA: DOIN IT RONG
I got the sandwich bag idea from TJHarlow, u put your finger in then spread it around the cpu
