I'm planning a build for sometime after August, and I was wondering which socket Intel's 14nm processors will require and which chipsets they will work with. If they are going to be compatible with anything available in the market by then I will be able to build the system with intention to upgrade, otherwise I might wait on building the system until the new processors are released.
Broadwell (14nm) will be using the same socket that Haswell will, LGA1150. Haswell will be released sometime in the summer I guess.
But why would you want/need a change to Broadwell when you would by a brand new Haswell?
I'm thinking about moving the one I will have in the new build into a LAN rig.
Also, is there nothing that's going to be using LGA2011? The current extreme patrs seem to be using it, and I was expecting the high-end parts to use it as well.
