Cpu overheating

Recently, I helped my friend build a rig over Ventrillo.  We got a post first try, installed windows and everything was fine.  But a few days later, his cpu started to overheat really bad (over 100C) so I had him reapply his thermal grease because he had apparently used too much.  That helped the temps, but it is still in the high 70s at load.  He is using a E7500 with stock cooler, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16835100012 thermal paste on a Evga 750i board.  He says that he did get all the cpu cooler pins in to secure it to the board. Help!

i have noticed that the intel coolers tend to fall off. sometimes you just need to manhandle those pins a little.

whats the ambient room temp? i think 70s at load for a stock cooler is normal in warmer climates.

some other factors to high temp.
- where you place the pc
- case airflow obstructions

Not sure room temp, will ask him tomorrow, but he has pretty good cable management with antec 900 stock fans at med/highAlso, when he plays a game on it, he gets a weird buzzing sound coming from his earphones. Â It only happens when he is playing a game. Â It happens in both the front panel and back panel connectors. Â Thanks for the quick replies!

70's at load is totally normal especially for a stock cooler. My cpu runs at 37c idle and 59-52c load with my xigmatek dark knight so.

lol no lies.
A stock cooler should be able to keep it at 65c load.

actually the stock cooler was running my CPU(e8400 @ 3.0) @ around 46c ish...so 70 is wayyy to high.
Now running my cpu @ 3.6 around 34c with the Xigmatek HDT-S1283.

the buzzing happens to me on my x58 board, but only when i plug into the front audio jacks.
