CPU hitting 75c at full load

i5 2500k overclocked to 4.5ghz @ 1.38v. Cooled by a H100i. 4 sp120's in push/pull.

Exact specs and fan layout can be found on my profile page.

Why is my CPU getting so hot with my H100i all of a sudden? Currently sitting at 25% load right now while typing this and watching a show on netflix. The temp is at 49c.

Any way you could lower the voltage? The higher the voltage the hotter its going to get.

Does anyone think it's the stock paste that comes pre-applied?

It could be or the cooler could not be properly seated.

I ran an i5 2500K for a while @ 5GHz with 1.45V and it did get a little toasty at times, but not that high. A few things to try...

  1.  Check and see if your cooler is seated properly , as DerKrieger said.
  2. Did you install thermal paste properly? Too much or too little can make a big difference.
  3. Are you sure the pump in the h100i is working properly? Check it out and be sure. Go into your BIOS and watch the CPU's idle temps over a period of, say, 20 minutes, see how high it gets
  4. Check the fans and make sure they're actually in push pull :D

75C should be totaly fine for an overclocked intel cpu, even for a 2500k.

Nothing to worry about.

Grtz Angel. ☺

The temps when just sitting in the bios is in the high 20's. The pump is definitely seated properly. And the paste was pre-applied. Maybe I'll try switching to arctic silver when I'm off.

Changing the paste will not make much of a difference if it is seated properly. Maybe 1-2 degrees. Re-seating with the same paste might give you the same results.

Is the pump running at the proper RPM?

Those temps are normal for an AIO cooler.
