CPU hitting 56c

So for about 2 weeks now my CPU has been hitting 56c with just having my CPU temp program and Google Chrome open, and I'm mind boggled at what to do...

Rig-

FX6300 AMD 3.5ghz 6core CPU

850w CiT PSU

GTX 660 3GB

8GB RAM Crucial 1333mhz

x2 1TB HDD

M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard

Some cheap mid tower case.

Are you using stock cooling?

Replace your thermal paste. If your temps aren't that much better get a better cooler like a Hyper 212 Evo. Make sure your case has good airflow too.

I'm gonna be buying some thermal paste and reapplying tomorrow and yes I'm stock cooling, will that cooler fit In a mid tower case?

It depends. Mid tower cases aren't all the same size. What case is yours specifically?

I haven't a clue as It was a gift I just know the site that It's from and I can't seem to find It on there.

I'm thinking of buying a new rig soon would It fit on a Zalman Z11 Plus mid tower?

It should have markings on it somewhere.

Yeah it should fit in that case.

if your cpu isn't hitting close to full load then replacing thermal paste and cleaning all the dust out of your pc should fix it.

What are the ambient temperatures in your area? 56C is actually pretty cool on a good day where I live (tropical country, 35~37C ambient).

So I've had new paste on for about 24hours now, and the temps are still sitting at 44c Idle and spiking to 53c just browsing the Internet, everything's clean too It was all fine 2-3 weeks ago now It's messing up.

Also I don't know the ambient sorry, It's cold most of the time here though, UK.

Firstly the CPU heat sink is crap, it was designed to keep the CPU below its throttling temp (65c), but by no stretch of the imagination does it keep the chip cool.

Secondly, Chrome is little heavy on resources sometimes. It uses quite a bit of memory, but I have noted it can use quite a bit of CPU sometimes.

What thermal paste are you using? Plus the rule of thumb for the amount is an uncooked grain of rice. (Also thermal paste does have a break in period and does get a few degrees better over time)

If you want to try and stabilise things. In the BIOS manually set the voltage of the CPU to its stock voltage, as the automatic power delivery tends to over compensate when the CPU turbo's; causing a higher than necessary temp.

In the UK atm, outdoors its around 3-12c depending on where you are in the country. Ambient depends but typically 19-25c. I do not know about the OP though.

Arctic Silver 5, I'm getting my Cooler Master 212 cooler fitted Monday too. I'll go take a look In BIOS and change volts.

Maybe I'm just blind but I can't find my CPU volts.. M5A97 R2.0

Ah yes, I personally don't use AS5 as I prefer MX-4.

There is basically nothing in it between the two, I just do not like AS5 due to it being (electrically) conductive and also having a very long cure time in comparison to other thermal pastes.

When you say fitted, are you getting a shop to it?

On the Asus boards, its usually under "AI Tweaker" and then "Digi Power+"

Yeah a geezer my old man has known for years Is fitting as I don't have a clue how to do coolers youtube hasn't exactly sunken In on me lol.

I dont see digi power+ but i now see cpu&nb voltage

Should it be offset or manual? Either one i cant change volts

How is your airflow inside the case?

does yo case even has airflow? 56C is way to hot. for stock, even with stock cooler. on idle it should be atleast 20C lower, so i assume that your airflow is not good, or the thermal paste need to be re-aplied.

Which settings did you change in the bios? what is your current cpu voltage?

Airflow the side Is off with a fan blowing air In, until I get my new NZXT 530 and I just put new paste on perfectly, and nothing because I hardly go Into my BIOS when I was In there It was on Offset Mode at 1.38v Ingame It's 1.42v
