CPU Heatsink and fan cooling?

Would using a stock cooler be acceptable for a cpu if you don't plan to overclockl? It's an intel core i3 ivy bridge @3.3 GHz. I heard AMD has better stock coolers, is that true?

Generally the stock cooler is acceptable. However if you find that it is a bit loud you can still benefit form something like a Hyper 212 Evo as it's not very expensive, will generate less noise, and will of course keep your CPU a bit cooler than the one it comes with even at stock speeds. And yes the new generation of FX CPUs do have better coolers but only things bellow the 8000 series as AMD belives that if you're gonna buy and  8320 or 8350 you probably won't be using the stock cooler anyway.
