So recently i bought a gaming laptop. It has an intel quad core i7 3630QM and a gtx 660m
I have been testing a bit and the temperature of the CPU is around 45-60C just doing nothing really. I used Prime95 to stress test it and it averaged around 85 or so. At one point it went up to 92C. My GPU showed the same results. So should i be scared or? Is it to high or is that normal? What is the normal temperature?
i7 3630QM max temp is 105 °C and GTX 660m max is near 100 °C.. If you dont overclock then its ok.. if something will happen then warranty sould cover it.. Because in real life use you really will reach 100% usage on cpu and gpu...
Maybe you can tell us what gaming laptop you have?
For a laptop, that isnt bad. However, Prime95 on a laptop, unless it has a high-end cooling solution, is not recommended. They are really meant to run at 100% load for that long. On desktops, the cooling options are larger and more effective, so it is easy to manage heat, but for laptops, it is more difficult. Now, if those were your temps running Prime95 and Furmark, then in real-life situations, your temps will be noticably lower. I don't think there is anything to worry about.
thanks for your answers, they helped. The laptop i have is a Optimus IV with this configuration: Win 7, 8GB 1600mhz ram. 750 7200rpm HDD, Intel core i7 Quadcore 3630qm, GTX 660m 2 GB, 17,3" matte screen (hooked up to a 23,6" monitor). The laptop can be found at PCSpecialist.com. Very good service and low prices (for a dane atleast. our prices are crazy high).
