Cpu fan error

Hey everyone,

So I replaced the stock fan on my Xigmatek dark knight CPU cooler With a Corsair SP120 but there is a small issue the fan has a 3 pin connection, and when you turn the computer on there is a CPU fan error for about 5 seconds which is very annoying. i cant find any settings in the bios to fix the problem (And yes i know the CPU fan header should be 4pin) But are there any fixes for this?

Computers often register a CPU fan error when fans are not spinning fast enough. Try lowering the RPM warning (or anything indicative of that) in the BIOS. A 3pin CPU fan is a non-issue.

Depends on the motherboard, some boards have options in BIOS to change from PWM to Voltage-control. If it is manually set to PWM and you plug in a 3-pin fan (voltage-control) you would probably get an error. Some motherboards does not support Voltage-control, only PWM. Check your motherboards manual, some have options for "low rpm" on the CPU FAN.
