Hi so the stock cooler that came with the AMD Phenom II X4 was getting loud and my cpu was getting hot around 60c i got worried so i was thinking of purchaceing a cpu cooler my problem is how will i get the thermal past off the cpu and install new thermal past or if i can keep the thermal paste from the last cooler give me a list of liquids/ matirials to get thermal paste off my CPU thanks for help
90 percent rubbing alcohol will remove the old paste. I wouldnt reuse it. Some coolers come with paste or paste already on the cooler block. I personally use an antistatic cloth and I also bought the Artic Silver paste remover 2 part chemical kit. I have used rubbing alcohol plenty of times though.
90 percent rubbing alcohol, 60c is good you want to stay below 80, if you still want to upgrade get a h100i, i have one and love it.
