Cpu bottlenecking gpu issue

ok, so im running a nvidia msi twin frozr gt660 on a pcie-2 slot. on a amd phenom 1605t (it's a 960t with the the extra 2 cores unlocked) clcocked at 3.4 GHZ, but i think the cpu is bottlenecking the gpu, as i seem to lose frames with anti-aliasing impaticular which i beleive is more cpu depedent as texture's, geomitry and effects dont seem to affect it much, also my gpu wont push beyound 45 celcius under full load.

so if it is the cpu, what would be a good upgrade that would take full advantage of my gpu, also should i consider a pcie-3 board?

The problem here is most likley not your processor bottlenecking your gpu, and its definetly not the pcie 2.0 bus (no card to date is able to saturate the pcie 2.0 bus). The 960t even to today's standards is a good cpu, especially for gameing. While yes something like a 3570k would give you a few extra fps, you processor or motherboard is most likley not the issue.

What you are dealing with is most likley a software issue of some sort, Have you tried reinstalling your drivers? Or trying out some different drivers to see if that is the issue? Or any other possible software issues?

45 is a pretty low load temperature even with a card with a nice cooler like the twin frozr, which is what leads me to belive it may be a software / optimization issue

Also anti aliasing is a frame killer, I personaly never use it unless im playing an older title that I can max out 100% with vsync at 60fps no problem before thinking about turning on AA

well dude i just updated my graphics drivers earlier and so far you seem right, im getting much more logical readings from afterburner just under 60% load i was getting a 43 celcicius averrage and the power comsumption fell in line with this too, and this was while playing world of tanks for about 4 hours straight with settings mostly maxed out like usual. so yeah you were right on the money

thanks dude :)
