Hello, i am unsure if it is okay to ask tech support questions here. If not, please redirect me.
i have an issue using ubuntu gnome and my usb headset. where on the live usb, everything works perfectly. smooth, nothing wrong at all. it even detects it as a 7.1 device.
and then when i install, it cannot enumerate the device.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
posting results of dmesg | grep usb

also note the extremly long boot times.
if i cant get this too work i am forced to go back to windows. And i would hate to have that happen :)
i tried plugging in and out and it didnt help. same dmesg error.
the wierd thing is it works fine under the live usb?
And i dont want to buy a new headset i have had this for 5 years with no problems. and i have never had a more comfortable headset. and all the Logitech ones i have had has failed inside a year.
and post the two files pkglist.diff and modlist.diff
The simple way to fix it is to make sure you have the same packages installed as in the live environment, and that you have the same kernel modules loaded.
Also on the note of headsets......... i always use 3.5mm headsets. Removes all the USB driver nonsense. I current rock a pair of Samson SR850s (Amazon for $35) most comfy headphones EVER. And until I replace my missing Antlion Modmic 4, I am using a basic Zalman clipon mic which still works wonders. total cost? ~$45?
The headphones came with lovely Velour earcups.....can't go wrong. I wear glasses and even after 6+ hours of use while gaming, I can't tell they are on. i even forget that I am using headphones till I get up and try to leave the room. The Semi-open backed part makes the surround effect simply amazing. I use onboard audio too. No need for USB 7.1 bullshit. The onboard audio can deliver that just fine. And seriously, no headphones/headset actually delivers 7.1 audio. It just fakes it. There are after all only 2 speakers in the headset/phones.
