Corsair RGB or CM Storm Keyboard?

Hi everyone

Its just been my birthday so I've got a bit more money and I'm wanting to invest in a mechanical keyboard. Two main things I want is one with Cherry MX Brown switches and white back lighting.

I've been wanting to get the Corsair K70 RGB ever since I saw it, as I really like having RGB lights. However, the price point is quite high. I'm in the UK and it is around £140. However, yesterday I went to CCL and I saw a keyboard by Cooler Master called the Trigger Z.

The difference between these is that the Trigger Z obviously doesn't have the RGB backlights. It also doesn't have per key back lighting. These are the only two features I particularly want that it doesn't have. However, the price of this is £82, nearly half the price. I can't decide whether or not it is worth the extra money.

I was also trying to find a Ducky Shine 3 with white LEDs, but I can't find it anywhere. The only one I can find is a gold-plated one. This is more expensive than the K70, so its pretty much a definite no.

I was wondering if anyone could give me a concrete reason why the K70 would be better or if I should just go for the Trigger Z. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thank you as usual.

UPDATE:

I have also found this one - the CM Storm Mech Aluminium. It has both Brown switches and white LEDs but it doesn't have per key back lighting. It is £134. I don't think it as good as others but it looks pretty cool.

I don't know which you all think is best.

I would probably go with the QuickFire series over the Trigger Z, but I don't know how the availability is in Europe.  If you don't need the RGB lighting then the only thing you'd lose out on would be the aluminum case and media keys, and you're gaining a detachable cable and a few macro keys, so the Trigger Z is definitely a better deal if you don't plan to take advantage of the K70's advanced lighting.

I can't find a Quickfire with a White LED. Otherwise I would've probably gone for one of them. They have a slightly nicer look.

And yeah exactly what I'm thinking. I think I might go get one now. They have them in stock at CCL and its only 10 minutes drive away. Hope is not an impulse buy!

Get the cooler master Rapid-i for sure! The corsair one is a rip off and the LEDs blow up all the time, maybe not as much on the rgb one, but definitely a lot on the standard ones (from what i've heard, a lot.).

You can use the extra money for a fancy mouse too! I can get the Cooler master Rapid-i one of their mice and stiff have $100 NZD left over vs the corsari RGB!

Overclockers UK also have a wide range of Mech keyboards. Definitely worth a look.

My opinion on these, stay away from corsair, cooler master keyboards have a good rep. Personally I don't like LEDs but that choice is up to you.

If you really want the corsair rgb you might want to wait till the new year. The software has major issues -and I'm not sure they know what they are doing. They removed onboard memory, disabled the ability to record keystrokes on the board. Probally to avoid the current software from bricking the new software when it comes out. Basically the changes that they have made make this board only work on windows if the corsair software is loaded and you can't just jump to a new computer without reloading everything. On top of all that if the corsair software is loaded it takes up almost 300mb of ram .. And it randomly crashes

Thanks for all your posts everyone. With the website being down for so long I didn't see everyone's replies. Thanks for all the advice. I went back to CCL and they let me play with the Trigger Z. I ended up going for it. Its fantastic so far. Only thing is its really loud and I can't find O-rings.

Banggood has some cheap ones but there shipping sucks took about a month and a few week's and about 20 confused emails. http://m.banggood.com/150pcs-White-O-Ring-Keycap-Rubber-For-Cherry-MX-Switch-Keyboard-p-937511.html

There are more expensive "professional" o rings with different thickness to stiffness but to be honest at the end of the day I can't tell the difference but i type with heavy fingers

wow free shipping? Damn thank for the heads up. I have been looking around the past few days for these as WASD charging $25 is insanity in my mind for rubber o-rings. You say they work fine and fit correct? 2mm think or slightly less?

Just be warned shipping took a really long time. For the price I let it go
