Corsair Rant

Okay so I apologise in advance for the language I am about to publish but this is unbelievable.

I am shaking I am so furious right now. I am dealing with a nightmare of a fucking company!

FUCKING CORSAIR!

These assholes are the absolutely un-fucking-believable!

Story TIME!: I bought a K95 some 5 months ago now with the assurance that Corsair were a quality brand and failing that I had a 2 year warranty.

So three (very nearly four) months in to owning this crock of shit keyboard the LEDs start to die. A small petty thing but not as advertised, I check the forums and this is a fairly regular occurrence. I contact Corsair support, a week goes by and RMA i approved.

I send the keyboard, which was not cheap to start with, in at my own expense. It cost €50 for this, but I brushed it off thinking that this is just the standard that you pay to return the item.

Two weeks go by, not a fucking word fro them. the tracking on the package says it arrived. What? No confirmation of receipt? I message them and they say yes they have it but no stock to replace it. Okay fine, it has been two weeks to get some but whatever.

Another week goes by, I message them again. "We have no ETA when we will have it back in." WHAT! You could not tell me this last time! A little annoyed now.

So I ask on the forums, specifically the warranty section, not a fucking word from any representative!

It let it slide one more week. Then in firm and polite words I ask them exactly what is going on.

The message:

Dear Corsair Support,

I do not wish to sound rude or forward, but I have been without a quality keyboard for four weeks now and you have had my keyboard for RMA for three weeks this Tuesday (tomorrow as of writing).

I thank you for your help but I feel this is not in line with a product which cost as much as it has and performed much less then expected. I do not wish to wait potentially two more weeks without a keyboard to do my work on in a comfortable fashion.

For an investment of over €150 in total at this stage this is poorly lacking in quality assurance and in my opinion reflects badly on your company.

I understand products go out of stock, that is not an issue but I would expect that when a user sends in one of your products for RMA there would be a effort made to rectify the situation as soon as possible. Regardless of the reality this seems not to have happened.

I understand that Corsair Gaming are busy launching a new competing product, to this end are the old K95's going out of production? If so I would like to know so I can get a repair, replacement of equal or greater value and functionality, or refund. This is inline with your warranty information.

I am only one customer out of many, so this begs the question, are all people who RMA a product with you waiting upwards of a month for the situation to be rectified? Needless to say I am not happy and I can no longer recommend Corsair products to anyone who asks.

I am very disappointed that my experience with your company has warranted this response, this should never happen.

Yours Regrettably

And I finally make headway. I get a message asking if I would like a refund. GOOD GOD DAMN YES! Preferably I would like a keyboard but i will take it to get away from this shitwads.

So I respond with: Yes I think that would be the best course of action at this stage. Thank you.

So that is the back story.

Just an hour ago I get a comment back saying it has been approved and will take 3-5 weeks, I already know how long it would take, I am very angry at this stage but I just want out.

So the message reads: The refund request will have to be submitted for review by the manager. If approved the process normally takes approximately 3-4 weeks to complete. Refunds are issued in USD by check only.

I FUCKING EXPLODED! A check, a fucking check! And in poxy USD! Who the fuck do these people think they are!

I live in Europe, Corsair must not know this btu we use EURO over here. The RMA was within Europe... Where the fuck did they come up with Dollars! AND A FUCKING CHECK! So now I will have to cover lodging costs and conversion costs and I am sure they will not cover the full cost to me. Those fuckers will nickle and dime me all they can. Three months just to get treated like this!

Meanwhile they are restocking PC shops everywhere with updated (rebadged) version of the OLD K95 and the New RGB K95, and they cannot fin ONE! Not a single one to take care of their RMA obligations first!

This has to be some kind of joke the support team plays. Just pick one guy who sent in a small problem, an aesthetic one even, and just ride the bastard to town!

I am absolutely furious now.

I am sorry you read this, it is petty and small of me, I should just take what I can get but at €170+ now in this hole this is downright insulting!

I don't mean to dump on you guys specifically, trust me Corsair are getting it from me now, but I just needed to vent. Sorry people.

+1 Nice rant Zibob  ... that would piss me off  ... in fact that does piss me off ... for what the charge for that shit it better be bullit proof

I have two Dead LED Keys on My K70 My "A" key and my "6" Key. and don't know how I've got them. I've had this keyboard for 7 Months. I don't know what keyboard manufacturer I'm going to choose next but it definitely wont be from Corsair. the only thing I give Corsair Pointers for is Aesthetics. the K Series Keyboard do look better than ALL other keyboard out. but the Dead LED Keys problem is a shame.

euro fail

So I sent then a long and very angry message, And I got a response. Go figure. I should not have had to enter a shouting match to be heard.

Also I was right they are refunding me for under the base price of the keyboard and writing off the €50 i spent on shipping.

Fucking cunts.

NEVER BUY CORSAIR ANYTHING!

So I am out of pocket and down a keyboard.

If I ever go to a trade show I will punch their reps right in the smug money grabbing faces.

Yeah, Corsair products always seemed top of the line pricewise to me, but not so top in quality...

And now I begin to question wether I really want to blow that much money on a keyboard when I only want it for the ascetics. Answer is, hell no. I dont exacly have the money to blow on something that may fail so ill stick with what I have.

that's why coolermaster is where it's at.

#razerswag.  Just kidding.  Cooler Master is pretty good.  Use a CM Keyboard and Mouse.

Not when you compare to G.Skill.  Lower prices, higher speeds. Team Group seems to be an even better bargain but I haven't tried them yet. Heard that they may be owned by G.Skill, who knows. The samsung wonder ram was another one I might try one of these days.

About to be in the same boat used the k95 keyboard for maybe a months use and just had some LEDs die... My brother bought me the rgb version - it just sits to the side because of all the issues it has (worked well for a few days then it turned into glitch city).. Not sure if I'll be using anything made by corsair after this ...

Update:

Now i Just got an Extra Dead LED on my F8 Key.

Hahahahahah wow! That was a great read, and when I say haha it's in a cynical way.

You literally just changed my mind on blowing $350 NZD on the RGB K70. I have no idea what i'm going to get now, maybe a Cooler Master one, but it sure isn't going to be Corsair because I seem to have a colossal amount of bad luck when it comes to technology ( :'( ) as some of you might know from some of my similar threads on here (haha).

Just after reading your post I literally got this peasant vibe from Corsair and looked at my case in hope of no Corsair parts being in there but there actually are :(

As an extended rant for you I could add that my Corsair parts are the RM650W PSU and the Vengeance RAM.

Now the funny part is that I've already been warned by the shop I bought the RAM from that it is bad RAM, but somehow it hasn't died so i'm very thankful for that.

But what does piss me off is the fact that they sell the RM650W PSU with corsair link advertising..

Now this is fucking Ridiculous, the PSU has a plug hole for LINK and a cable for LINK, but only half a cable.. yes, a fucking half. You have to go and buy the other half of the cable to use it, and the best part is that that other half isn't sold anymore..

I have disgusted by some companies in the past and all their rapes but I wouldn't have expected this of Corsair because they are quite reputable.

I have bought from Cooler Master and have been satisfied so maybe I will check out their keyboards.

On my Master Race list of companies I think I now shall include them amongst the likes of Fractal Design, Asus, Gigabyte and probably soon to be as well, EVGA. Oh yeah and Logitech of course.

But yeah, I'm real sorry for what you've gone through, and I know how you feel with being so angry that you shake and you sit there and just can't even fucking fathom how angry you are and how much illeagal activity these dealers can get away with, it's bloody shocking!

I have a ton of Logitech stuff and I have to say some of it is 10+ years old and still works like new. I've honestly never held or used a bad Logitech product so good for Logitech?

I'm actually a bit worried now as well. I have a Corsair memory and this black lit keyboard that's only a few months old. Hope the keyboard lasts a year or two at least for all the money I spent on it. :/

Same here I've never had a Logitech Product go Bad on me EVER. to me they make the holy grail of PC Peripherals. those products last for YEARS.

I've used Team Group RAM in the last two builds I've done for some people. They have been solid. All the sticks have been running flawlessly and in this case it was $25 cheaper than Corsair RAM.

Never had a non functioning Logitech product either, the only bad thing I have to say about their products is that on BOTH my mice from them (G9x and G500s) the cable has slipped out of the braiding but I'm not worried about it since it hasn't affected my G9x in the 4-5 years since I got it and my G500s is still ticking along just fine

The only Logitech thing that has ever gone bad on me is their harmony remote. My family has been through 3 in 6 years

I feel for you man. I have had the same problem with my K70. First one came with 2 broken LEDs, sent it back after much headache and got the second and after about a month the W, A, and 4 key broke. Sent that one back too and am on my third. Seems to be okay at the moment. But that process was horrible and took forever and I live in the US.

I don't use the LEDs too much but that doesn't matter. I expect them to work. Apparently it has something to do with static screwing with them but there are lots of keyboards out there with CherryMX LED switches and they don't seem to have the same problems.

I do love the Corsair esthetic. The K70 with its brushed aluminum and blue LEDs looks great and it has solid build quality. The LEDs just seem really messed up.  If they die again I'm just gonna say fuck it and deal with it or try and fix it myself. Not worth the hassle of dealing with Corsair and their terrible customer service.

Never had any problems with my Logitech devices though.

Only had one wireless mouse go bad from them but I was later able to fix it (led sensor got detached from general abuse as my cheap emergency use mouse. Is now my laptop mouse and is still running fine.

I've been suspect of their pricing for a while now. About 6 or 7 years ago I did not like their ram, having repaired PCs with bad sticks in them. After seeing what I assumed were independent reviews of their cases I went with other vendors. Also comparing their prices i was wondering that perhaps the price is high, since it has an image of a sailing ship on the product.

That said, I own 10 of their fans and two sticks of their glam ram. The ram is not built very well and confirms my worries over the cases, but the RAM works fine knock on wood and i knew the heat spreaders are merely costumes. As soon as I got the sticks I knew I was definitely going g.skills on my next ram purchase. I'm not convinced the fans are so awful. It's all sourced anyway. A lot of their PSUs are SeaSonic, so they probably are pretty good PSUs. But in an RMA situation, you'd probably get what you get above.

Next keyboard will probably be a Ducky, but I'll be glad to write off the corsair keyboard, since it was on the short list.

Thanks for this most excellent rant and I hate to hear when someone has misfortunes. Your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed and your ability too curse is outstanding.
