Corsair Hydro vs NZXT Kraken

Hi first post!

Anyway, I'm looking to upgrade my CPU cooler to either the Kraken X60 or the Corsair H100i. My CPU is the 2600K, at the moment I'm running at stock but will be doing some moderate overclocking once I replace my current cooler. My main concern is the noise of the pump, my priority with this build is keeping the noise down (the majority of fans in the case are Noctua NF-A14 ULN which are vertially silent).

Does anyone have any experience with both of these coolers in regard to the noise of the pump and putting together a silent build? Is the Kraken X60 likely to be quieter than the Corsair H100i?

Thanks

Considering the Kraken literally JUST came out.. might need to give it a minute and see what reviews start popping up about it.

get the kraken. it's baqsically a pre-assembled cuswtom loop.

I would say also wait for reviews on the Kraken. Given its a new product from them, dont know if they have some of the similar problems corsair has dealt with over the past while. It is still not as good as a custom loop, not even close.

Reviews are out, the Kraken Wins.

Kraken's pump, from Asetek, is quiet. Here is a video review

Personally, I'd go for the Kraken. It cools better, due to larger radiator.

Those are some odd results.. the X60 definitely performed as expected, but the h80I coming in right under it? Hmmmm

Yeah, I've noticed some odd things from Anandtech lately. Linus Sebastian (LinusTechTips) has his Kraken units comming in the mail now and he is going to test them in a closed case and compare it to the H100i, H80i, and SilverArrow Extreme, all with Noctua NF fans. His results clearly indicate that the H100i was much better than the H80i under load.

well, i guess you have more options, but a closed loop really won't cool any better, I think. the advantage of a custom loop is really expandability.

The only problem is finding out if the kraken fits in your case.

Pretty easy. should fit any dual 140mm slot with 15mm fan spacing which is standard for most modern cases; however some cases use 20mm spacing ( like Tempest 410 elite), but will fit by drilling new holes for the second 140 mount. Samething with the H100, only with 120mm instead of 140.

Here is a quick list

would an X60 Fit the Define R4, because i know H100's are a bit of a squeez on the top mount.

Where are you getting this from? The Kraken is a closed loop just like the Corsair, the only difference is the radiator size.

What makes me leary is I don't know how they're going to deal with leak (yes their will be leaks), Corsair will replace everything that is damaged but we don't know how NZXT will be with honoring those problems.

Expandability, also you can control flow rates, not to mention pump size. That can reduce temps in a big way.

It's on the compatibility list. Top mount should fit no problem. The rad is only 27mm thick, which is the same as the H100.

i'd personnally go over the kraken as my HAF XB is 2X140mm compatible in front however the H100 did it's proof...
