Working on a new build and the 24 pin connector will not go in to my motherboard (MSI 970A-G46). Has anyone else heard of this problem? Is there anyway to check if it's my MOBO or PSU that is the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
if it has the 20 pin connector with the extra 4 pins, i would try and just connect the 20 pin cable into the board and make sure you don't have it backwards.
Did you make sure you have the +4 pin on the right side?
Ive tried that seperated the +4 and 20 pin. +4 goes in perfect the 20pin is the one that doesn't want to go in. I know other people have had problems with the cx600 24pin so that's why i'm leaning towards it being a issue with the PSU and not MOBO
it's niether, the 2 pieces need to be slid together for them both to fit
I had them together and it wouldn't fit. Only seperated them to see if it the +4 or 20pin that wasn't going it. as stated the +4 goes in easy but the 20 only goes in about 1/2 way.
i would contact corsair or return it to the store you bought it from. sound like an issue where one of the 20 pins is not sliding into the mobo connector, like a molex when one of the four pins is at an angle.
I had a similar issue with this PSU and the ASRock Z75 mobo. I had to apply a hefty amount of force to get it to connect properly. After working with it for about 15 minutes, I was finally satisfied with the connection. I had to apply so much force the connector's shroud felt as though it was cutting into my hands, and I honestly thought I was going to end up breaking the motherboard. I slipped my finger tips between the case and motherboard to help provide some additional support while plugging it in.
Not sure if it was a good idea to apply so much force, but everything works fine now. It fired up without a problem.
Yeah just hoping someone had a magic fix. Guess now it's just a wait and get a new one. Thanks everyone for the help.
Had same problem as DeusAres with CX500 and ASRock 970 Extreme3.
