Corrputed files, Bsods and random freezes PLS HELP I'M DYING HERE ;_;

Hey there, I am kind of having a problem with Bsods, freezes and corrupted files.
I did a test with memtest yesterday and it showed up with some errors, (20 to be exact, with 7 passes. Ran the test for about 8 & 1/2 h).
I have done a bunch of AV scans with multible different AV's and have found nothing.
I've also done some tests with prime95, ran once a test for about 10 h with "small FFTs". Nothing there either.
Tried doing a fresh reinstall of windows (W10) and when i was going through the install it failed a couple of times because something was corrupted. I didn't exacly pick up what the message said, but it just gave me some details of an error code.

Completed the install at last by formating and deleting, things that you can do in the beginning of the installation when you are choosing which harddrive you want to install the OS on.

Ran a "sfc" when the install was finished, said that some files where unable to be fixed and where corrupted.

Is my system completely fucked?!?!?!?!?!. Can your Mobo, CPU, GPU, HDDs and SSDs get totally "destroyed" just because of some faulty memory and corrupted files in the OS?

PC SPECS:

  • Motherboard: MSI Z170A KRAIT GAMING
  • CPU: i5 6600K (Using stock clocks [3500 mhz] )
  • CPU cooler: Be quiet! pure rock
  • GPU: SAPPHIRE R9 390 NITRO (stock clocks)
  • PSU: EVGA G2 650W
  • Case:Fractal Design Define S
  • RAM:Crucial Ballistix Sport 2400mhz
  • C: Drive: SSD Samsung 850 Evo 120gb
  • D: Drive: WD Blue 1TB (7200RPM)

EDIT [2016-03-23]

The service called me yesterday and reported that the technician couldn't find any errors. Does this mean that I might have a bad DIMM-slot on my motherboard?

EDIT [2016-04-04]

Good news! I have finally received my new ram kit!. Actually I received it last week, but my schedule was filled with a bunch of testing. Sadly I wasn't able to recover the minidumps on my SSD that I wanted to post though.

Tests that I have been doing the past three days: Memtest86 for about 25 h [approx 18 passes, no errors] first thing I did before anything else at all. (Later when that test was done I tried to recover my dump files, unfortunately I couldn't find any. So therefore I reinstalled my OS).
Prime 95 for about 20 h [Large FFTs no errors, also a little bit of blend for an hour, no errors]

So in conclusion, I really do wonder how that technician tested my previous ram that I had sent in for an RMA/repair. Hopefully none of my remaining components in my machine won't explode.

one of those two, I will post the partnumber when I get home

As long as your memory (ram) is corrupted everything strange can happen; have you removed the faulty RAM already?

Failing ram, of course destroys data that is stored on SSDs or HDDs as data will go through memory before being written onto them.

Thats your problem right there. Go buy new RAM.

The system was built recently, so i have rights on my warranty still.

Yes I have removed them. Hopefully i wont have to buy new harddrives?

The HDDs and SSDs physically should not be damaged; but the data that is stored on them got corrupted by the RAM having errors.

The fresh install you did after changing the RAM?

No, i haven't obtained new ram yet

When you have got the new RAM, run memtest again; if it shows no errors go ahead and install windows; The installation that is currently on your SSD/HDD has most likely important bits corrupted by the dead memmory

ah i see, thank you so much for your help! U guys are really kind here at the forums :) .
I will report back with more info once i have some new ram to do some tests with!

It might take a week before i get a new set. Just a heads up ;)

Well, for BSODs....
https://forum.teksyndicate.com/t/windows-bsod-or-other-issue-read-here-first/79740

We really need your minidumps to be able to pin point the issue quickly otherwise were normally chasing this issue headless.

On to the other questions:

Can you list hardware specs?

Do these issues happen randomly or can you reproduce your error by following a specific set of task?

  • Motherboard: MSI Z170A KRAIT GAMING
  • CPU: i5 6600K (Using stock clocks [3500 mhz] )
  • CPU cooler: Be quiet! pure rock
  • GPU: SAPPHIRE R9 390 NITRO (stock clocks)

Yes, they do happen randomly. But the bsods are more frequent than the freezes when i'm at the desktop for example. I have also been having some freezes when i'm playing games, sometimes i can play for several hours with no problems what so ever. And sometimes I can only play for about 20 min or an 1/2 h until the game freezes and with the screen going black and restarting the system by itself. Sometimes the screen goes black sometimes it doesn't when it freezes.
The weirdest part of all is that the music in the game doesn't get interrupted when it happens.
Normally the music would stutter when a freeze occurs right?

Temps on both my cpu and gpu are good when i'm playing. The CPU never goes over 60* C and the GPU goes up to about 80* C at the most in an intensive game.

you could test each ram stick one by one to see which one is faulty. then just remove the faulty one until you get your new kit.

and RMA your current kit

Well if you ram trows errors with mem test.
I would firstly return that.

Hey long time ago :P

Do you know how to test the VRAM on your GPU, with like a tool similar to memtest86?
Because I think that should be my next step after I've received my new RAM and given you the minidumps. Btw can ram get hurt by a corrupted OS?

I'm sorry if I'm being a little needy with all my questions. I just really want to get my system fixed : /

That is hard to do and I am unsure on how to do it. The only way to tell if the video card is bad is if you see artifacts on your screen during a benchtest or something.

EDIT: RAM cannot be damaged by a bad OS.

So the service called me yesterday and reported that the technician
couldn't find any errors. Does this mean that I might have a bad
DIMM-slot on my motherboard?

Well if the RAM is ok in another system, but not in yours... its most likely the Motherboard; The memory controller is on the CPU though, but if that was bad the whole ram most likely would fail and not just one DIMM slot.

If its stable without that one slot beeing populated, my bet is on the motherboard.

This is going back to yur VRAM question from days ago. Since you have an Intel system, try removing your video card and run off the iGPU for a while to see if you still have issues.
