Aren't all the I7's the same except for the clock speeds? And of course the black editions are unlocked. So can't you just buy a 920 and overclock it?
voltages are different too. So yes, unless you want to waste money buy a 920
For the most part yet, they are identical, but number 1 its like that with almost every other CPU. Second the 965 has a high QPI, but I think that is overclockable anyway.
If I was a millionaire I would buy a 975 Extreme but that's probably the only time I would.
