My friend has a i7-2600k he wants more performance and I say go for it but get something other than the stock cooler. "Ok" he said "which one?" So that why i'm here I was thinking he could go for 4ghz overclock (i think). I throught he should go for the Corsair H60 since it was nothing to crazy with reasonable cooling. Anyway i was wondering what you guys thought and he would like it to be sub $100 (USD) but i think he would go over a bit not to much and he has a Cooler Master Haf-912 for the case.
(he also have a Z77 mobo if you were wondering)
Questions just ask i can probably answer

Here's a question you should ask your friend, Liquid or air cooling? Im air cooling an stock clocked i5 3470 on a CM Hyper 212 EVO heatsink with two CM SickleFlow 120 Green fans in a push/pull config inside of a CM Storm Scout and i never see my cores go above 60. Watch_Dogs tends to heat up my cpu around 50. Other games I get 40-48. Keep in mind though that water does come with more maintenance.
I second the 212 - 2600k at 4.5 can get it up to 4.8 with safe temps
Yeah. Just get a decent air cooler. The 212 EVO mentioned above would work fine, and it's only $35 or so. It'd be MORE than enough for a 4ghz OC on a 2600K. You'd probably be looking at temps in the mid-low 30's at idle and high 40's under full load, depending on room temperature of course. That's around 25 degrees below the listed max temp for the 2600K.
The 212 Evo is a great cooler, just not a fan of the fan that it comes with :P
I replaced the fan with a Noctua NF-F12, ahhhhh, much better.
It runs my FX-8120 at 4.0ghz no problem.
