I'm in the process of building a new system, and I had replaced my 8800GT with a 560 Ti. I want to reuse the 8800GT in a media center with the old build and I was wondering where and what is a good cooler to replace the stock one (we all know how loud XFX fans where on this card...)
I don't even know if the currently available aftermarket GPU coolers even support something as old as an 8800GT. Anyone else more knowledgeable about something like that care to shed some light? I'm honestly a little curious.
The specifications say that this cooler is designed for multiple Nvidia and AMD reference-layout cards. But I want to say that the reference layout has changed dramatically since 2006.
Whenever I needed to replace a fan on a video card and couldn't be arsed with buying a 3rd party cooler. I just take off the plastic cover of the heat sink and take out the fan, strap a 80mm fan using zip ties or screws (screwing into the aluminum heat sink) and plug it into molex or 3 pin LED. ;)
