So recently i ordered 3 Cooler Master N200 cases for customers, all different lot numbers. Figuring 40$ a piece they are more than reasonable for a case with as many features and good airflow. 2 of them had warped side panels, impossible to put back on without putting alot of body weight and muscle on the case, despite shipping boxes being seemingly intact. On one of the first two and the third one, the top front panel USB2 connector didn't work.
Another customer had ordered a GXII 650w, bringing it back complaining of BSOD issues and computer randomly powering off. I noticed the 24-pin connector wasn't clipped on properly, and simply wouldn't clip on. I checked with another power supply, and it clipped on fine. It seems many people had this issue with this particular model, and i'm seriously wondering how could they fuck up so bad on something so basic.
Has anyone else experienced defects with Cooler Master products as consistently as i did, or am i just really badlucky?
Edit: i have to add their RMA service is a real charm to work with, and that may be a necessity.
on their lower end products, they seem to cut costs more on the quality check more than they should. I have a HAF XB as my case, and I can't replace the front dual 120mm fans with the dual 140mm silent fans I bought for it because they decided it would be a great idea to socket the fan screws into place... It was real fun stripping all of the screws and finally getting one or two out to notice that I had to some how thread the fan screws out of the fans themselves. But I also have a Seidon 120M from it's initial launch, and I thought eh, a $50 Liquid AIO cooler would do a better job than the EVO and be alot quieter, and holy shit the thing was able to bring my CPU to damn beautiful temps while I was at 4.5Ghz (pushing my mobo's VRM and capacitors to their limits, low end gaming mobo and all)
TL;DR CM is really hit and miss at low end, but when you hit it good, damn you hit it good. When you hit it bad, it can be pretty bad. Just evaluate what you received before send them out, or using them. RMAs are wonderful if they are compliant.
This is totally exempt from keyboards because I think they almost over check on their mechanical keyboards' quality checks, (damn they're beautiful, I own two, even the TekSyndicate team has one or two)
The only CM thing I've played with is my Hyper 212 evo. The temps on it are great for me. My 8350 at load (stock clock) max's out at 47c. That is with the lower ambient temps in my basement at about 17c (took a while to get used to...) but it is pretty good. The only thing I don't like about it is that the fan on it is a little loud at loud. Its a little louder than my Gigabyte Gtx 770 windforce at load. Its more like running the stock fans in my Arc Midi R2 at 7 volts vs 3/5 volts. I can't hear it with a headset on but if I kick back and use some cheap speakers I can definitely hear it over anything else in the case.
oh yea their keyboards are a real charm. I have a Quickfire rapid, best tenkeyless for the price. I'm looking forward to getting the backlit version soon.
