I have strong feeling people are going to stop reccomending the 212 and start recommending the loki and dark Knight XD
I'll have to look into those personally my self, it looks like the dark knight is just a Gaia with a ceramic coating

I'm just wondering if the ceramic coating really does dissipate heat that much better, because the Dark Knight has been out for a really, really long time. I had never heard of the Night Hawk version before Logan mentioned it.
I am not trying to cause an additional flame war, but often when people say they have a larger budget (lets say 60 dollars). Unless its actually for OC purposes I do recommend the 212 only because they are just looking to spend money for a more silent pc, or for the sake of spending money. Another thing is being uninformed about stock coolers. Most are actually not so bad, so my personal thoughts are: Need it super cheap, just use stock. Want it quieter or to do some very light OC on a budget get the 212. If you really want to OC your computer do some research what fits your needs best, water? H80i or Kraken, air Noctua D-14 (silverarrow etc).
The other choices come down to style choices for me, I love how the Bequiet coolers look etc... but truthfully I will only recommend what I know is a good cooler for the money (not to mention ease of use). I personally have a hard time recommending the mid range coolers, because I dont ever use them (except maybe 3, and they were pretty garbage for the price... my fault for not properly researching).
Anyways, I agree to some extent.
Well you could always simply want cooler temperatures in order to extend the life of your CPU too.
I didn't say make it comprehensive, just touch on each price point and give an example of what each cooler offers and sacrifices. You don't even have to worry about going into detail on every cooler either, just pick one and then list the similar ones in a related section for each price point.
And before you say you don't have time to find a list or make one, consider all the time you've spent now, in the past, and in the future arguing with people about the Evo 212 alone. You seem to want people to broaden their opinions, so give them the tools.
Fair enough.
You know what...I've been looking for something to write about lately. Maybe I'll write up an article for the home page....I wish I could do my own benchmarks though. Maybe Logan would send me some coolers to test out...
