i own a fx-8320 and i been looking for a good cooler for quite sometime now. one of the best coolers i found was the "be quiet! dark rock advance" but unfortunately due to it's mounting system on the AMD platform it can only be mounted downwards with the fan blowing up aka top fire.
i don't wanna spend anything beyond £60. i'm in the UK by the way.
so what are your suggestions guys.
specs:
FX-8320 ( to able to overclock to 4.2 at least)
m5a99fx pro r2.0
/* update /*
what temps will i get with a "zalman cnps9900 max" at 4ghz - 4.2ghz - 4.5ghz ?!
The bottom 3 don't cool as efficiently when OC'd as the CM 212 BUT at stock they cool within 1-2 celsius of the CM 212 at a cheaper price... With that being said since you want to OC I suggest the CM 212
I can completely recommend the Noctua NH-D14, provided you have the clearance on your RAM it is a very solid cooler. Oh also the case room, it is about 3mm from the side of my case the cooler is huge. Very quiet, my case fans are vastly louder. Usually idles around 20-25C. I have seen my CPU hit 45 in hard games. It does have an overclock though, so it deals with the heat fantastically well.
I got mine of Amazon UK I think it was about £66 about 6 months ago.
Don't expect too much OC headroom,I have the 8320 at 4.5 with a 212 evo in my case and it barely handles it during heavy load. That's with 3 more fans in the case
I have the 8320 myself but push to the 8350 to save you money in the long run. Personally I'd recommend Cooler mater Nepton 280L due to 140m fan's, 5 year warranty. This is more of a balance of noise level and preforemence. ( LED light aswell ) Other reason as-well is that the 2 fans that come with it is good to have on the case, but worth replacing the stock fan's with something better. ( square, well pressured 140m fan's to leave no gap's)
If you can cope with only 4.4gig over-clock then I'd recommend Coolermaster Sedion (1) 120m fan, due to £25-35 / $30-40. This will do until game's and that start using 8 core's but in a way if you put up with this for a year, then the first water-cooler should drop in price by 30-45%.
