I want to purchase a Corsair H55 to replace the stock cooler for my AMD FX-6300. I looked on the website and the cooler is compatible with the socket but it doesn't list compatibility with the FX series. My theory is that the H55 was released before the FX series but I cannot validate this. So in short my question is if a cooler is compatible with the socket does the CPU need to be specified as well?
its compatible yes, corsair's clc coolers use the existing am3+ cooler mount to mount the pump on. No need to install any backplate or whatever
