Converting Dynamic Partitions to Basic

Hi everyone,

Once I changed the size of hdd partition because I was running out of space. Shrinking the volume wasn't a problem however when i extended the other volume the entire phisical disk was converted to dynamic.

I don't really know what are the differences between those two types but I found out that you can't boot from dynamic partitions. So I want to change them back.

I went to windows forum and found out the only way to change the partitions back to basic is to delete the volumes completely and then create new partitions again. Then copy the data back in. Here is the catch. My program files are located on the disk that got converted to dynamic type. I could still back up the program files and then move them back after I have created new BASIC partition. Because the OS is running from SSD. But I am scared that this action will cause serious problems and I will end up having to reinstall all programms.

I have read on other forums that you can use Aomei Dynamic Disk Manager or Acronis True Image to convert disks without loosing your data. Sadly neither of these programs are freeware.

So is there any other way I can do this without having to pay money and risking a system corruption?

You can boot from dynamic disks or a.k.a GPT disks.  However, that is only if you have a UEFI and 64-Bit system.
