Converting a desktop to rackmount

Hi,

I am planning to upgrade my workstation this fall. It’s an old Threadripper 2990wx with 128GiB of RAM, a dual 25Gbps SFP+ NIC card, 10 NVME (2 PCIe card with 4 NVME 2TB on each card + two 2TB NVME on the motherboard) in MD/RAID raid 10. The case is an EATX tower with a custom water cooling loop.

My plan is to replace almost everything except the case, the video card, the PSU and the custom loop. I want to put the old stuff (motherboard, CPU 2990wx, RAM, NVME cards) plus 4 x 3.5" hard drive and a new power supply into a rackmount case to replace my actual server that is almost 15 years old (IBM x3550) in my home server room. I have a full cabinet.

So my old Threadripper would become my new rackmount server.

I am looking for suggestion for a good rackmount case, with a good air cooling solution for the cpu. I don’t need a full height since I can use PCIe right angle adaptor for my extension cards. But if a full height is the best, I have enough room for it too.

If possible I would like he case to comes with the PSU (I don’t need redundancy).

I have looked on the most goto website on the internet, but I am a bit lost. Usually I order from a server manufacturer like Supermicro or Dell and everything comes assembled together, now I only need a case for an EATX board and I feel bit lost.

Any suggestions?

Any suggestion? At least could someone give me a reference for a good rack mount case?

Assuming you don’t need hot swap bays, you might like sliger cases for home use

Oh, and silverstone and rosewill makes some good cases as well
