Convert a NAS into a Steam machine

Hi guys,

I've build a NAs a while ago with the folloing parts:

  • Zotac H67-ITX-C-E
  • Intel Core i3-2100T
  • Arctic Alpine 11 GT Rev. 2
  • 2x WD10EADS
  • 1x WD10EAVS
  • BQT S6-SYS-UA-350W

It runs quiet well but I thought I could start gaming on it when my case build is finished.

My idea is to add a SSD for the OS and a decent grafics card. Then install Linux, Win and Steam and have a gaming and multimedia system for the living room. I don't want to play the latest high end stuff on it. I know I need newer and alot better hardware for this.

Games that should run on this system are:

  • EVE Online
  • Need for Speed Most Wanted
  • Dirt 2
  • Command and Conquer 3
  • Playstation 1 Emu
  • Brütal Legend
  • Minecraft
  • UT3
  • Quake 4

What parts should I buy?
Should I replace more parts?

if you are building a steam machine you can't play games that are not on steam unless you aren't planning on using the steam OS when it comes out?

I plan on using Archlinux and Windows in Dualboot for now. I'll switch over to SteamOS when it's ready.
