Controller or Mouse/Keyboard?

Hey,

Wondering if you guys prefer one over the other, or do you use both for certain games. Just wondering because I like using both and find that I prefer keyboard and mouse for some games and controller for others. I am also a console guy as well so that might have something to do with it. :)

I started on console but I don't think that matters as I am never happy with a solution so I would have used a controller sooner or later anyway.

For most games I am keyboard and mouse but for racing and certain open world games I use controller. It is odd though. For all GTA game before GTA IV I use keyboard/mouse but for IV onward I use controller, i just cannot play those with a keyboard, but the older ones felt natural. I guess this coincides with GTA IV being a first GTA that was a console port and being made for controller.

For stuff like Borderlands I use keyboard/mouse and the driving in that feel good with a mouse. it really seems to me like some games are just made better for one or the other and those who really put the effort into development can make a keyboard/mouse work almost anywhere.

Getting back to what I was saying earlier, I am really picky about almost everything do do with PC and my set up. If I play a game with keyboard/mouse it is because it is simply the only way it makes sense to me, but some game simply don't with with keyboard/mouse and for those I fall back to a controller. Playing a game with the wrong input for me will drive me crazy with in about 5 minutes, that how I make my decisions on input and why the console background for me really does not makes a difference.

Primarily, it depends on the game, most of my games use mouse and keyboard, but there are some games that beg for a controller for me, like dark souls, tomb raider 2013, assassin's creed, etc; that being said, they are playable with mouse and keyboard, but better with a controller.

And that kinda sums it up really, some games will be better with mouse and keyboard, and others with a controller. So, for me, it really depends on the game.

I prefer keyboard and mouse for pretty much everything other than racing games. Another kind of games where a controller is strictly better is fighting games, but I don't play those.

Even games like Assassin's Creed or DmC, which are initially made for controllers, feel more natural for me with keyboard and mouse, mostly because of ability to control camera at all times (you have to release right stick to press one of XYAB buttons).

key/mouse for everything except racing games, emu, sports, and flying.

Fanatec GT3 Wheel Club pedals and CSL seat for racing.

ps3 controller for emu, flying, skateboarding,NHL, and tennis.

For me, I play shooters or RPG's like Skyrim I will use controller. But when I just want to kick back on my chair with my dual monitors and my tablet next to me I sometimes feel the need for my controller. The funny thing is, literally right after I posted this I saw an article on PC gamer about "What controller do you prefer?" If you guys want to implement that would be an interesting little topic. :)

Keyboard mouse for everything except flying games, racing games, and fighting games. I use a controller for racing games and fighting games, and a flight stick for flying.

I could not use Assassin's Creed on Keyboard and mouse. Just feels wrong. I know a few people that due the same thing as you.

I due need to get Borderlands on PC, had it on the consoles and liked them. Might have to get the new Borderlands that just recently came out :)

Ment to say in the first part. I play shooters or RPGs like Skyrim with a Keyboard and mouse (except on some long hours on Skyrim.

After using both for a very long time I have eventually came to the conclusion that the keyboard and mouse are the best for most uses.  The only exception for me is driving/racing games where a steering wheel or a gamepad work better for me and I assume the same is for many people.

I'm happy with this even if you are limited to using a chair at a desk in most instances.  Doing this also allows you to be more immersed than using a controller and sitting so far away from your display.

Xbox 360 controller for emulators, fighting, racing games and platformers.

Mouse and keyboard for everything else.
