Content?

Neutral stance. I have tuned in less and less frequently because content is becoming more and more scarce. The home page of teksyndicate.com - at the time of this post - contains nothing but ads. If I have to wait 2 weeks for new content, and still don't see it, then I will not be returning to this website.

Newsflash: ads are easy to find online. That is not why I used to come here daily. This is not a threat, but a warning: Produce or I will leave permanently.

  • Sincerely,
    Disappointed viewer

@logan @wendell @deuscain @everyone

I'm sure you are aware of the crap that's happened... that being said there has been a lack in content recently. So yea we're currently in limbo and not a whole lot you can but wait, or just head on to greener pastures your choice :/

The REAL content is on the discord now. It comes from the community. Logan doesn't give a ratfuck about any of us. Message @Eden about it if you care enough.

Don't be privileged. Be friendly.

Tbh a loss of a forum member doesn't really matter financially, or even a viewer in the long run. You could make the argument if you are giving them money monthly, but again with the drop on Patreon I don't think it matters at this point. (even if you are the 115 buck person)

I have unsubed but keep coming here for the community.

ditto on that

also you got @DeusQain name wrong

Edit

No it does not, It has one ad. The rest are links to content or support/donation.

@Big_AI_Tech I am aware. And bored. And, as you accurately put it - moving on to greener pastures. This is likely my last thread.
@FaunCB if the only REAL content is the discord: I'll go watch Murray and try to guess the baby momma. I am simply disappointed and discouraged - not by the drama, but by the lack of content. Something? Anything, other than an ad?

... @Eden I do care, and I was just starting to assist in any way I could - even if my posts may have seemed elementary, I still felt that I was starting to contribute in a small way. That was out of reciprocity. If the content dissipates, however, so does my desire to contribute.

It is what it is. Finally, @FaunCB and @Big_Al_Tech I did - and still do - respect many of the viewpoints you gentlemen have produced in this forum. The catalyst for those viewpoints, however, has dissipated - and so has the content. When I view this forum nowadays I get that feeling of "So how is the weather?" ... which is to say, mundane. Goodnight @everyone and to everyone a goodnight :)

I'll link this here as well. There might be some content here to tide you over while Wendell and Logan get the business division sorted out.

The reason is obvious: Tek Syndicate is dying.

Between Logan and Pistol, they should be able to produce something at least twice a week, if not 3 times a week (I think 5 days a week, but I doubt that they'd be willing to work that hard - you know - like us working stiffs who show up and work 8+ hours a day 5 days a week). Tek Syndicate's editing is simple and all the music, transitions, etc are in the can. The rest is content, editing, and b-roll. How many hours are in a day? How hard was it to review that MP3 player they did a couple weeks ago (also LOL at reviewing a MP3 player in THE CURRENT YEAR).

It seems like you aren't aware. Qain is no longer part of the Tek Syndicate staff. He left Portland and is starting is own channel.

Wendell is in a legal dispute with Logan over the split of the assets of Tek Syndicate LLC. No idea where things are right now, but those things takes time.

As for the content, well ... You'd have to talk to @hutchison15 for that. There is some footages that have yet to be released. But I have no idea if they will ever be published.

And for the people saying that Tek Syndicate is dead. Well ... It's painful to admit, but I think they are right. We can only wait and see for what can be reborn from the ashes.

First off, there's really no need to close this thread. Anyone is more than welcome to voice their opinions on things, which is a very good use of the Blog category. If this topic had been focused solely on the 'tekxit', then the thread would have likely been closed to reduce clutter and the OP would have been referred to one of the official update threads that remain open for folks to discuss the division of the business and events that unfolded on the forum. However, opinions on the current content or lack thereof should be welcomed.

For those saying that 'tek syndicate is dying', perhaps it would be better to draw distinctions between Wendell's ventures and those of the PDX team. Tek Syndicate as a brand is in limbo right now and may be getting phased out and/or divided, etc. We don't know the future of the brand name at this time.

On @wendell's side, I'm sure he is waiting to get through the business division and any legal stuff attached to that before moving forward with any further content projects aside from Team PGP.

On the PDX side of things, those folks are still releasing content (albeit a bit slow right now). Here's the two latest video threads from the PDX crew:

Yep, content has been trickling out slowly, but as others mentioned that's likely due to staffing changes, etc. They've brought in Justin and he's getting spun up. @hutchison15 is also new, so I'm sure he's still getting acclimated to things. Perhaps he can provide you with more updates on their current plans and what is in the pipe and when we can expect to see it.

What is this, really? He's said that a lot about some people and the new 'vision' for tek syndicate recently. Why do we keep hearing "we're really getting down with the nerd culture man, like totally". What? You mean tech stuff? It always sounds so forced and awkward.

This is somewhat accurate. We have actually shot a crazy amount of new content that I'll start releasing after we finalize the legal stuff. I think we are almost done. Frankly, I have held a couple videos because I don't think it's fair to vendors to have their product downvoted by the people focusing on the drama.

This has all been stressful and I'm spending way too much time talking to the lawyer, going back and forth with details, researching the allegations to see what the truth is, etc. For instance, there was a check that was presumed missing. I had to spend hours at the bank looking for it. It turns out it was deposited with several other checks so the amount didn't come up in the search... So it was a false alarm but still ate up time... So my time and energy is being used for many non-video things. This can't be over soon enough and I promise everyone I'm trying to be as fair as I can with the split. Contrary to what the internet says, I'm not greedy. I put my life into this business and I am taking it in a slightly different direction now.

Yeah I'm not sure. The whole 'nerd culture' phrase actually annoys me quite a lot. As far as culture and individual hobbies and passions go, I usually think of 'enthusiast' whenever I hear the word nerd. Most folks that are described as having nerdy hobbies, etc are very dedicated and enthusiastic about those hobbies. I think the phrase is being used here to state that their vision encompasses other content besides basic tech-related content (i.e. tabletop gaming, etc). @Logan would be able to give you a better summary of what it means to him.

It's only annoying to me because its way easier to say "he's a nerdy just like us" or just take the whole nerd thing out and list the stuff after. We know d and d is nerdy, we get it. We are all nerds to some extant to the majority of society here.

Guess what I am trying to say, is saying nerd culture sounds like someone selling me something/not authentic. Just like the shaky cam, that I am glad not to see anymore.

"Expert on nerd culture" just sounds like a pompous way of saying... y'know, nerdy?

Here is hoping the content improves after all the legal stuff is over. Because what i have seen lately is not up to the normal TEK standards.

If you guys don't like the term "nerd culture" that's fine. If you feel like it has no meaning, that may be True. I don't think it's as bad as "edgy". I hate when I hear that word, so I get what everyone is saying.

So I'll just throw a bunch of stuff out there and you all can tell me how you would succinctly classify it... PC gaming, gear, lifestyle, skits, travel with a focus on nerdy things and counter culture, retro, books, tech, big picture, rants, tech, shenanigans, etc. I'm all for reviews but I'm more into what you can do with the hardware and gear. So I'd rather make a video covering how I use an item/a tutorial/idea video rather than just an overview. We'll still do overviews and reviews too.

The main idea here is that we are going to have fun while exploring things we think are interesting. There isn't really a true definition and I'm not going to promise a set schedule (hutch will help keep some content regular, but it won't be a patreon goal) because we are going to open ourselves up to whatever creative ideas we have. We'll just be ourselves and if people leave, that's fine. I think we will grow faster. I think it new content will attract a good audience and I hope some of the exclusivity and elitism (that even I may have encouraged) will die down.

How would you quickly sum up what we do other than, "we do our own thing?"

Nothing wrong with nerd culture personally. I think you'll have tough competition though (nothing wrong with that either), there's some really good people out there in that area, I think you'll need something there that others don't have or don't do as well and you might do well.
