Okay. So I saw websites claiming to have emulators for current gen consoles. I sound like a total n00b right now right? I don't blame you. But, the websites looked convincing. I downloaded both, scanned them with AVG, and the were perfectly clean. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? I opened them up and it said I needed a BIOS. I linked me back to their site to download it. Installed it, and opened the emu's back up. Now it said I had to activate it by completing a survey. Ain't nobody got time fo' dat on a Sunday evening. I will test both on my main PC tomorrow and report back the results. You can check the site out here:
Are you seriously still considering this even after that survey request? There are no working emulators for these consoles. Anything on Youtube is a fake. Move along.
Ha i first came across that 360 one about 10 minutes before finding this thread. I actually had to double check, but no its def a fake.
There is progress though, from about 10 minutes of research, it looks like some emulators are capable of emulating homebrew applications, an extremely rough estimate would be they are about 1/20 of the way to being able to play commercial games but i doubt this will ever be accomplished.
I think it will be the other way around. The PS3 uses Cell architecture which is far different from pc compared to the xbox. Xbox emulation has been done but no one really put much effort as at the time computers could not handle the performance requirements. now there aren't anyone willing to spend the time.
No one worked on the Xbox because it couldn't be done. i think they got halo to run at about 5FPS, MAYBE.
No Xbox, or xbox anything has really been emulated. The PS3 has VERY similar hardware to that of a PC. This is demonstrated by the fact that you could run linux on one, before Sony removed the feature.
