ConnectX-4 on x670e?

Hi all!

First time poster - long time lurker around these parts… I come to you today with a longshot question where I’m far out of my depth. Hopefully somebody can help but, if not, no worries.

Recently, I was able to snag some Mellanox connectX-4 100Gb NICs (MCX455A-ECAT) at a great price and am running 100Gb through my house. I was able to get the cards recognized/functioning on a B550 and TRX40 motherboard, but my AsRock x670e Taichi (w/ 7950x) workstation really seems to hate it. Boot takes forever when it is installed and, when it finally boots, I don’t see it after running an lspci. The boot hang seems to correspond with my debug LED having the status “DXE_PCI_BUS_BEGIN”.

Any troubleshooting tips/tricks or is this just something I’ll have to accept running too new of hardware? It would be super nice to have my workstation connect to my garage cluster at 100Gb so I’m definitely willing to put in some time here.

Looking forward to any thoughts - thanks in advance!

Given that you have cards working on two mobos, I’d take one of the confirmed working cards and try them in the AsRock x670e Taichi.

Assuming, problems are confirmed, I’d drop PCIe speeds to Gen4 or Gen3 to see if situation improves.

Thanks for the help, Jode. I actually did try one of the working cards in the AsRock mobo to no avail. I also tried forcing speeding to Gen3 and tried both top/bottom x16 slots on my mobo, but nothing :frowning:
